Emergency Aid
Residents of Isabella county who need help should call Listening Ear at (989) 772-2918. Listening Ear will assess the need and route the request to the appropriate agency. If the Goodrow Fund is the right agency, our volunteers will return the call to the client and determine if emergency assistance can be provided. Client help is usually limited to twice a year.
In 2018, the Goodrow Fund helped 1,494 people. Assistance included, but was not limited to, shelter, gasoline, transportation, medical and dental emergencies, vehicle repair, household and personal care items, rent, utilities, permits, licenses, and fees.
The Goodrow Fund does not provide cash to its clients, but instead, is billed by vendors for their goods and/or services. Up to $1,500 per week is spent on emergency aid.

Volunteers
Volunteers are always needed!
Phone volunteers work one week at a time with four to five weeks off between duty. Because contact is through Listening Ear, the volunteer's anonymity is maintained. Volunteer schedules can be flexible to accommodate those who may be available for only certain months of the year.
Volunteers may also be needed to help with: data entry, mailings, and/or fundraising.
